Quilt Market
Most of you know that a week ago I went to Quilt Market in Texas.
IT WAS SO FUN!!!I took my (aunt) and good friend Lila with
me to see if we could get someone to pick her up to design fabric.
Needless to say, it went very well:) You will most
likely be seeing her fabric in the spring. I won't share too much
about it other than WOW! It's amazing!!! I can't wait to get my hands on some.
I will definitely keep you posted on what's happening there.
Also, we were totally getting attacked with our BAGS that Lila made! Everyone was loving them:) Maybe something will come of that too....hmmmm, we'll have to see!
As for me, I was able to meet some of
the most talented and amazing fabric designers out there. Like Amy Butler , Joel Dewberry, Heather Bailey, and Tina Givens. Also, I met up and had dinner with the Oh so Talented Sandi of Portabellopixie! She debuted her new fabric line with Michael Miller and all I can say about it is - BEAUTIFUL-. I bought a ton of it for my Pink Fig fabric store so keep an eye out of my blog for when it will be listed. Congratulations Sandi!
Now for a cool story....The first day of market is pretty busy with everyone trying to meet with the fabric companies to place their orders. Lila and I walked in to the show room and straight over to Free Spirit to check things out. Who do we see first but JOEL and HEATHER! OH MY GOSH!!! I was kind of freaking out. But why should I, there just people right? NO - They are freaking amazing and not to mention TALL. Both of them were so tall! So, I get up my nerves and walk right up to Joel and say, "Hi, I'm Chelsea and I was one of the designers involved in the indelible launch on ebay." He had this huge picture of one of Eva's designs in his booth so I told him, I was friends with Eva and I pulled out some of my pictures from the launch. He was so nice and excited! We chit chatted about the launch and my fabric store that pretty much only has his fabric in it and then I introduced Lila to him. He was immediately interested in her portfolio and asked to see it. By this time Heather had come over and she wanted to see it too. So.....What the HECK! Within in the first 10 minutes of being at market we are sitting down with Joel and Heather, while they look over her designs and give her advice. I was dying!!! Lila was totally breaking out in a sweat. They were so nice an so supportive. From then on out things went GREAT! What a blast.
I was able to talk and brainstorm with Lila over the next 3 days about her future and mine. I won't tell you what I'm planning yet, but my mind has been swimming ever since. I plan to have my own booth at the next market in the spring. I'll give one little clue...it has do with fabric and it's centered around Vintage*Chic.
So now my personal opinion about each designer I met:
Joel
Dewberry is so cool. He is seriously the nicest person! He is really
tall and very handsome. What a great guy:) Hey Eva! I took a picture
of his booth for you!

Heather Bailey: I don't have a
picture with just me and her, but let me say she is STUNNING! She is so
tall too! And what a nice person. She was so sweet to sit and talk with
me and Lila. Thanks Heather:) Why do I notice how tall everyone is?
Probably because I'm short! 5'3".....I also wish I was a little taller.
Amy
Butler: once again, TALL, Beautiful, So down to earth. I just loved
her. When I asked her if I could take a picture of her she didn't
hesitate to say yes and then asked if Lila and I wanted to be in it
with her. I bought her new book that is full of cool info and tons of
gorgeous pictures and she signed it!
Her Booth was EYE CANDY!
I also met Tina Givens who I totally LOVE! She
was so much fun. Lila and sat around and talked to her for about 30
minutes. She gave me some of her stationary and told us funny stories
about her kids! Her new fabric line is gorgeous. I will definitely be
ordering some!
I also met this most adorable girl who sells Japanese
Imported fabric wholesale!!! I have some ordered for my fabric store and
we're also going to collaborate on some things for the next market.
All in all, I would say Market was a huge
success for both me and Lila. We had so much fun just hanging out,
talking, eating good food, and getting a little break from our normal
lives:) I hope you enjoyed this post!
