I had my first trunk show recently at a fabulous little
quilt shop here in my home town of Salt Lake City,
Utah. Nadine, the owner of Material Girls Quilts hosted
a sample show of my patterns and it went really well!
She took over 100 names of people who are waiting
for the patterns to arrive. One was a neighbor of mine
who came up to me at church and
asked about them.
That was the moment that reality set in! I tried to keep
my cool and talked to her about them like I was an old
pro at pattern making, but inside I was freaking out.
(look at how big this shop is!)
Needless to say, I am really excited, but scared at the
same time. Getting this business going and getting ready
for market has been a huge challenge for me, one I didn't
really expect. I feel like everything has worked out
according to God's will and this opportunity could not
have come at a more important time in my life. I'll
spare you the details, but if this all works out, it may
just save my family's life and help my kids have a
mother who is able to stay at home and only be a
crazy women 2 months out of the year, right before
quilt market. (Sorry kids) They are so patient and
understanding because I really look and sometimes
act like a lunatic, but they still love me!
(see, she still smiles at me and don't you love the
bike helmet that serves as her portable toy basket?
she cracks me up!)
I have learned a lot this first time around and hope
that all of the kinks will be worked out for the Fall Market!
Please be gentle, when you get your patterns and if you
have any comments or constructive criticism that can help
make them better I am begging you to email me and let me
know. I am totally open for improvements!
Now, back to the quilt shop! This shop was just featured
in The Better Homes and Garden Quilt Sampler magazine
as one of the top 10 shops of 2008. It is HUGE and filled with
my favorite fabrics, incredible quilts, patterns, trims, and
they offer classes. I love coming here to check out the
selection and I'm always greeted with a friendly smile and
lovely, helpful, fabric cutting hands:) You can also order
fabrics on-line by clicking HERE. Thanks Nadine for showing
my designs in your shop! I can't wait to see you at Market!
(I love this quilt!)

Hi, My Mom actually forwarded your blog to me, she is a friend of Nadine's (and pretty much single handedly keeps Material Girls financed by her purchases.) She wanted me to see your designs and told me that they would be featuring you. I think they are adorable and am eagerly awaiting their release! Good luck, and I hope everything goes smoothly for your launch.
